  • The $10aDay Child Care Plan must continue and grow so that all children have the chance to benefit from publicly funded, high quality early learning and child care programs.
  • The Plan has already contributed to making licensed child care more affordable for one million families and that number will increase if all governments and child care operators continue to participate in the $10aDay Child Care Plan.
  • The $10aDay Child Care Plan recognizes that more qualified properly compensated early childhood educators and other staff are needed to support the expansion of licensed child care and to ensure high quality programs for children. The plan has already delivered wage increases and improved benefits to address problems of recruitment and retention. 
  • More public funding to strengthen the workforce and to support expansion of the system is imperative but that won’t happen if the $10aDay Child Care Plan is disrupted.

  • Children have the right to regulated, high quality early learning and child care programs
  • Educators are the key to high quality programs and must be well-compensated and supported in their work. 
  • Early learning and child care is a public good; it must be funded directly by governments (not through parent vouchers) and valued in the same way as public education. 

Vision Message

The $10aDay Child Care Plan represents the promise of a primarily not-for-profit early learning and child care system that directs sufficient public funds to publicly accountable licensed operators for the provision of affordable, accessible, high quality, and inclusive child care for all children and families.

What we want

  • Commitment from governments and political parties to stick with the $10aDay Child Care Plan and strengthen it.
  • More public funding to significantly improve the working conditions and compensation of early learning and child care educators and other staff. 
  • Public planning and a capital funding program to increase the supply of not-for-profit and public early learning and child care programs.
