B.C. proposes bill to remove barriers to school-based child care expansion

The British Columbia government enabled legislation earlier this month to facilitate school districts directly operating year-round child care programs for children from birth to age 12. 

The Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC welcomed the announcement, stating that the “policy shift has the potential to advance a more seamless continuum between early learning and K-12, improve access to quality child care for families, and make better use of existing infrastructure”.
