Feminist organizations celebrate renewed funding for federal government’s gender equality programs

| |

Child Care Now along with 120 other organizations have released a statement congratulating Prime Minister Carney and his government for the decision to include in the 2025 federal budget proposal a $660 million investment in initiatives to advance gender equality.

“It’s very good news that Canada’s feminist organizations will now have the opportunity to apply for much-needed funds to defend and advance the progress women and gender-diverse people have made in the last five years with respect to social, economic and legal equality,” said Child Care Now Executive Director Morna Ballantyne.

However, Ballantyne warned  that gender equality will be stalled if the federal government’s Budget2025 does not also include a significant increase in federal funding for early learning and child care.
