Sample letter urging parents to Stand on Guard for Child Care

Child Care Now, Canada’s national child care advocacy association, has launched a Canada-wide campaign to expand and strengthen the federal $10aDay child care program. We urge all child care operators/providers to distribute this letter to parents benefitting from the program.

Dear parents,

Once again, the future of child care in Canada has been thrown into question by a federal election.

Despite the hurdles with implementing the federal $10aDay Child Care Program, there has been more progress on child care affordability in the first four years of the program than was made in the last four decades

Child Care Now, Canada’s national child care advocacy association, is calling on all parents who are benefitting from reduced parent fees to help convince all political parties (and whichever federal party is elected on April 28, 2025) to sustain and expand the program so that all families can have access to affordable high quality child care.

A stronger and expanded $10aDay Child Care Program requires more public investment and good public management of the system to:

  • Increase the supply of not-for-profit child care
  • Ensure a well-compensated and well-supported Early Learning and Child Care workforce
  • Manage a cost-of-living and housing crisis; this is one of the only areas where our costs have actually gone down.

At a time of economic instability, with inflation and tariff threats facing families, it is more important than ever to protect gains on affordable child care, which have been a game changer for families.

Please pledge today to stand on guard for child care. And please send a message to the candidates in your riding.

Visit Stand on Guard for Child Care to stay informed about the campaign.

Many, many thanks for your participation and support.

Warmly,
