  • At a time when Canadian families are facing economic uncertainty from inflation and tariffs, the $10aDay child care plan is providing needed financial relief by making child care affordable for nearly 1 million families across Canada. 
  • The $10aDay Child Care Plan must be strengthened and expanded so that all children have the chance to benefit from publicly funded, high quality early learning and child care programs.
  • The $10aDay Child Care Plan recognizes that more qualified properly compensated early childhood educators and other staff are needed to support the expansion of licensed child care and to ensure high quality programs for children. The plan has already delivered wage increases and improved benefits to address problems of recruitment and retention. 
  • More public funding to strengthen the workforce and to support expansion of the system is needed but that won’t happen if the $10aDay Child Care Plan is disrupted.

The $10aDay Child Care Plan represents the promise of a primarily not-for-profit early learning and child care system that directs sufficient public funds to publicly accountable licensed operators for the provision of affordable, accessible, high quality, and inclusive child care for all children and families.

What we want

  • Commitment from governments and political parties to strengthen and expand the $10aDay Child Care Plan.
  • More public funding to significantly improve the working conditions and compensation of early learning and child care educators and other staff. 
  • Public planning and a capital funding program to increase the supply of not-for-profit and public early learning and child care programs.
